Day 9: Be a pen friend!

I joined a group called International Pen Friends three years ago this month! I love all things international and love to get and write letters, so I thought this was the perfect idea. And it was! I now regularly write to three women from France, England, and Switzerland. They are great and I love getting random letters from other countries in the mail.

I have to say there are times when I feel too busy and their letters sit in my apartment longer than they should. The past couple of weeks are a good example. But, I finally sat down, read their letters, and wrote back tonight. The most recent letter I got was from a woman in France. Reading her letter, I discovered that she has recently had to deal with some serious losses and needed kind words. So, I sent her some. You never know what good a simple letter can do or how your words will help someone in need. I know they've helped me when I need them, too.

It would be so easy to just say I don't have time and stop writing, but then we'd all miss out. I'm so happy I became a pen friend! I love hearing from them as much as they love hearing from me. We even send each other small gifts and pictures sometimes. It is so fun! And the girl from England looks a lot like me and we have a lot in common. I met my English doppelganger. :)

  1. Hello! The English pen friend must be me! Thank you for your letter, I received it today! I have really enjoyed reading all about your acts of kindness. Is it really three years ago we started writing to each other? I will write back soon :-)

  2. Hi Isla!
I'm pretty sure it's been three years since we started writing to each other. I know, time goes so fast!
Thanks for reading my blog. I kind of lost my discipline for writing it after 100 days. Things got busy with my friend's wedding and getting my new position at the library. But I will try to start it up again.
I look forward to your lette. Hope all is well :)
